Aside from that bit of drama, we spent the day at the beach soaking in the sun, water, seaweed and sand. I love that combination.
Some played frisbee and football while parachutes and kayaks zoomed around in the distance. Some floated in the water or drank and talked in the shade. Some surfed on miniature boards and some got a little too much sun.
But all had a good day.
In the evening, once we repeated the mass showers and changing, we gathered again for grilled fajitas and sausage for a Fourth of July celebration.
We went back to the beach that evening, chairs in tow, to sit back, relax and watch the fireworks. There is nothing quite like fireworks on the beach with ocean seeping up and the sea breeze cooling the summer air.
We celebrated our freedom, family and friends and the fact that we still had a whole week of vacation left.
