Dear Chris, We've been married for two years.

March 19, 2012

Dear Chris,

We've been married for two years. Two years. To some, that may seem like a drop in the bucket, but to us, I feel like it's a milestone.

We've been able to both openly admit that the first year (and a half) was not quite a continuation of the honeymoon. And we've been able to openly admit that the last six months have been the best yet.

We watched the video from our reception last night for the first time. I cried three times. As I was watching cuddled up next to you on the couch with the dog at our side, I realized how much of the moments I missed as I waltzed through the blur of that day, and how grateful I am that it was all captured. I forgot that we did our first dance right away. I forgot the words from my dad and sister's toasts. I forgot just how many people were there for us. Us.

And then I watched us. We were shuffled from one table to another, from one dance to another, from one conversation to another. The thought that ran through my head as I looked at our faces sitting at the sweetheart table was, "They've only know each other nine months. They have no idea."

We didn't have an idea. We didn't have a clue. We didn't know the challenges we would face or the lessons we would learn or the battles we would conquer, big or small. But we are now two years into this journey that we promised each other would last a lifetime. And though there are days that is hard to imagine, I look back and realize how easy it will come.

Thanks for being my partner in life. And thanks for the peanut butter bagel this morning.

I love you,
