Organizing Life: A closet (not yours!).

July 24, 2012

This week, I organized our coat closet (which is a joke when you live in the desert).

We have a closet at the dead end of the hallway to store our coats, empty drum cases, suitcases, vacuum, and an air mattress that is broken yet is still up there. (I just found this out.)

Since I literally wore one or two of these coats this last "winter" when it dipped down to a brisk 50 degrees that one weekend, I decided to pick a few to spare and keep the favorites. I stacked all of our suitcases within one another so they wouldn't take up so much room with all of their bulkiness. I gave the vacuum its own spot since we (I) need to get it out on a weekly basis. And I rummaged through the top shelf to find the air mattress we used earlier this spring at Chris' family's house only to wake up at 2 a.m. to find ourselves on the floor because there was a hole somewhere in the air-filled bag of plastic. I sent it on its way to the trash.

While it was a small change, it's nice to open a closed door every now and then and just do a quick clean-out.

  1. That looks great! Did you turn on the heater when it dipped to 50? That is almost shorts weather for a midwestern winter day.
