I am extra excited because I've waited five years for it to land on a Saturday. I am taking advantage of the entire weekend by getting away with my husband to have a staycation ten minutes down the road. I will be pretending I'm in a foreign country, however.
This last year - August to August - has been trying, challenging, revealing and full of change. I believe our twenties is when we learn about all the junk that comes with becoming ourselves. Sometimes it's not very pretty, but sometimes the not very pretty is what it takes to turn us into us. And eventually, we become ourselves.
Of course, we continue to become ourselves the rest of our lives.
I have learned more than my fair share of lessons throughout the course of the last twelve months. I've learned God is no farther in the rain than He is in the sunshine. I've learned more and more each day that my husband is a very loving and forgiving man. I've learned I really don't know what I want to be when I grow up, but I've also learned that writing is my true passion and calling. I've learned that circumstances can change and we are in control of our attitudes regardless of the circumstances. I've learned as much as I seek and embrace change, I am still very scared of it.
But more than anything, I've learned God's timing is perfect and God's timing is good. Always. Perfect and good.
I am clinging to this truth as I pack my getaway bag and celebrate another year of life He's given me.
If you need me, I'll be at the pool.
