My word for the year.

January 14, 2013

In 2011, my word was graceGod showed up in the trials.

In 2012, my word was hopeGod showed up in the blessings.

In 2013, my word is purpose. I want God to show up in the moments.

Some weeks it seems we have so much on our plate that we just go through the motions. Any moment of down time is filled with doing absolutely nothing, allowing our minds to just rest and be numbed by whatever show the remote lands on.

Knowing this year is going to be filled with more change, responsibility, and moments, I want it to all matter. I want to get out of the house more with Chris (and baby) and make the most of our weeknights and weekends. I want to dive back into God's Word (it's been too long) and soak up the Scripture. (Any suggestions on a good devotional?) I want to read books and see movies and have coffee dates with friends and playdates with other moms and their babies. I want to purposefully write for this blog and bring out my camera more often. In fact, I don't want to ever put my camera away. I even want rest to be intentional, filled with conversation on the back porch, away from the t.v. or computer.
I just want a year of purposeful living.

Do you have a word for 2013?

  1. Great word, and I'm sure you will have a purposeful 2013! This is my first year to choose a "word of the year." Mine is "deliberate", which I still need to fully define for myself...

  2. My word for the year is faith. I want to grow in my faith and have faith in all situations. I know I will be tested, but I feel so ready to live that word out.

I love the word purpose. :)

For a good devotional, check out She Reads Truth. I am working my way through Fresh Start right now. I downloaded the plan to my phone and spend every morning reading through the devotional and scripture. It has helped me so much. I get so overwhelmed when I try to do it on my own.

  3. I do!

This is my fourth year choosing a word for the year. This year I chose Reclaim.

  4. I have two words this year. I tend to be a very impatient, high strung Type A planner who doesn't like much change (ESPECIALLY outside of my control!) We have a lot of really good things happening this year and my words for the changes are: PATIENCE and PEACE.

  5. Purpose is my word for this year also. I'm re-reading The Purpose Driven Life which is now re-named What on Earth am I here for? by Pastor Rick Warren. Awesome life-changing book!

Please leave your email so I can respond directly to your comment! I read each one and your words are much appreciated.
